Microscope

What a Microscope  Does  ?
Microscope is an optical instrument that magnifies the image of and Object it may be 2x  ( Two times ) or 3x in the case of Simple Microscope ( Just a Single Convex Lens ) or may be 1000x in case of Compound Microscope (Combination of Lenses) or 20000x  more in the case of SEM ( Scanning Electrom Microscope - with Electromagnetic lenses )

Types of Microscope - We will refer to Compound Microscope only unless we specify otherwise :

Types based on the Viewing port - There are three types Monocular Microscope, Binocular Microscope and Trinocular Microscope. From the the names only you have come to know that Monocular --- Mono ( one ) - Ocular ( Eyepiece )--- with one Eyepiece, Binocular with two Eyepiece and Trinocular with three eyepiece , the third one is the Photo Eyepiece for photographic attachment.

Types based on the Image formation - There are mainly two types 2D ( Compound Microscope ) and the 3D ( Stereo Microscope)

Types based on the Light Path and sample nature - There are namely two types Transmitted Light Microscope where the light passes through thin transparent specimens and Reflected light microscope where the light gets reflected by the opaque objects.

Types based on the Position of the Objective - There are namely two types Upright Microscope where objective is above the stage  and Inverted microscope types where the objective is positioned below the Mechanical stage.

Types based on the Application - There are various microscope types based on application like Metallurgical Microscope, Ore Microscope, Gem Microscope, Phase Contrast Microscope, Fluorescence Microscope, etc.
